Maison Saint-Honore
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past year, you must be aware that macarons are very much the new black in Australia. Do we thank Masterchef, or Zumbo, or just general sugar cravings from all the foodies that live in these parts?
I find myself a little obsessed with these tiny meringue creations. Seeking them out. Critiquing their sizes, shapes and flavours. Looking for who has gotten that pop to the shell right and has created an exciting range of fillings to savour.
Maison Saint-Honore in Fremantle is one place in Perth that has managed to impress. Their flavours are interesting and typical; the displays quaint but enticing.
Gorgeous macarons
As far as prices go, this is actually one of the more reasonable places where they're charged at $2 each, or slightly less if you go for any quantities larger than 4.
Because we're greedy, and have come all the way to Fremantle, Jeremy and I decide to order eight ($15) - each of us picking four flavours. For me, I go for the praline, raspberry, lemon and salted caramel. They're all intense in their flavours and their presentation. The salted caramel is gooey and decadent; the raspberry popping in my mouth. They taste amazing.
The shop counter display
For Jeremy's flavours, he's chosen vanilla, chocolate, pistachio and the very famous honey & thyme. The latter is one of the most unique flavour profiles I've come across; the herb infused sweetness hits the spot.
Take away goodies
Maison Saint-Honore creates great macarons. They're delicious, sweet and have this wonderfully airy quality to them. I'll be back - I'm one hundred percent sure of it.

ReplyDeleteThey were gorgeous _Sugarysweet! I have tried the Jean Pierre Sancho ones, but I'm a bit more partial to these - maybe because JP is around the corner from my work so I might have overindulged on them :)
