Cafe Somerville
This blog might be slightly biased. Cafe Somerville has been good to me in terms of delivering flavour and food, but I only ever order one dish. And so that means that this time, I'm not going to be particularly objective.
Fish curry
My mum is actually the person who put me on to this place; raving to me about the deliciously delicate balance of spices and ingredients that are used in this dish. And the best part is, if you take a pot down you can pay for a 'large' take away and they'll put it into your crockery so you can drive on home and heat it up.
It's a generous serving and it's wonderful.
So what exactly am I talking about? Well it's a Malaysian fish curry; deep in flavour and just mildly spicy on the back of your tongue. Inside is okra and fried tofu - both of which soak up the curry sauce that they sit soaking in. The tofu in particular is amazing; soft in texture and squirting curry into your mouth as you bite down. It's enough to make you swoon.
And then you get to the fish fillets inside the curry.
They're so soft that they fall apart the minute you put your fork in your mouth. It's a perfectly cooked piece of seafood that makes you long to eat forever. It looks great, smells better and tastes perfect.
I don't know what the other dishes at Cafe Somerville are like. But if they're anything like that curry, I wouldn't mind making the long drive to check it out.
